PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Wright, Colby-Sawyer (Sr. - St. Austell, Cornwall, England)
Wright began the week with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 over Regis' top player in a tough 5-4 road loss to the Pride. His lone loss of the week was in doubles action at the top spot as the Pride's top duo edged Wright and teammate Julius Lowman 8-7 (7-4). Wright ended the week with a couple of more wins against Division II Saint Anselm. He won his No. 1 singles match 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Wright and Lowman teamed for an 8-6 triumph at the top doubles flight.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Diego Rodriguez, Eastern Nazarene (Fr. - Barquisimeto, Venezuela)
Rodriguez went 4-2 overall on the week, going 2-1 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles with wins against Norwich and Johnson & Wales (RI) to help the Lions lock up the top seed in the GNAC North Division.
WEEK 6 HONOR ROLL
Nick Tagliaferri, Albertus Magnus (Jr. - Hamden, Conn.) - Tagliaferri led the Falcons to a 4-0 week, including the team's first program win over Rutgers-Newark, as he went undefeated (4-0) at No. 6 singles and finished 3-1 at No. 3 doubles. With the Rutgers-Newark match tied at 4-4 going into No. 6 singles, Tagliaferri came up big and pulled out the 6-0, 6-4 win to give the Falcons the road victory. Tagliaferri came up big again for the Falcons in the 5-4 win against Rutgers-Camden recording the 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 6 singles to seal the win.
Julius Lowman, Colby-Sawyer (Fr. - Bavaria, Germany) Lowman began the week by defeating his No. 3 singles opponent 7-5, 6-3 in the team's tough 5-4 road loss at Regis. His lone loss of the week was in doubles action at the top spot as the Pride's top duo edged Lowman and teammate Alex Wright 8-7 (7-4). Lowman ended the week with a couple of more wins against players from Division II Saint Anselm. He won his No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-4 and also teamed with Wright for an 8-6 triumph at the top doubles flight.
Henry Siercke, Eastern Nazarene (Jr. - Hamburg, Germany) Siercke went 4-2 on the week as the Lions' top singles player and one half of the No. 1 doubles tandem, picking up conference victories over Norwich and Johnson & Wales (RI).
Mitchell Weiner, Regis (Mass.) (So. - Plano, Texas) Weiner won the deciding point for Regis at No. 5 singles as the Pride earned their first conference victory of the season with a 5-4 win over Colby-Sawyer Saturday. After losing the first set, 7-5, he won the next two sets, 6-1 and 6-1, to earn the three-set victory. It is Weiner's third singles victory of the season, all coming in the spring as he has entered the singles lineup for Regis.
