Colby-Sawyer Defeats Farmingdale State, Advances To NCAA Second Round To Meet #3 Claremont Mudd-Scripps
Manchester, Conn. - The reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champions Colby-Sawyer defeated Farmingdale State in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, marking the school's fifth NCAA Tournament victory in the program's history.
The match was held indoors at Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester, Conn. due to inclement weather with Amherst College serving as the host institution.
The Chargers defeated the Rams, 4-0, after winning a pair of doubles events and singles events earlier on today. The pairs of Maria Espinosa Lopez/Isabella Gutierrez Avendano and Sky Jara/Mary Thoms earned the Doubles Victories for Colby-Sawyer while Espinosa Lopez and Avery Nielsen collected victories for the Chargers to seal the deal.
Colby-Sawyer now advances to face No. 3 nationally-ranked Claremont Mudd-Scripps tomorrow, May 10th, at 10 AM at Amherst College (weather permitting).
