GNAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 3
SJC's Madison Michaud tallied three goals and two assists for eight points last week for the Monks to capture Player of the Week accolades.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Madison Michaud, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Junior, F - Presque Isle, Maine) - Michaud tallied three goals and two assists in a 1-2 week for the Monks. The junior forward netted a pair of goals and was credited with an assist in a 6-2 triumph over Anna Maria College on Saturday.

CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Michelle Mecca, Albertus Magnus (So., GK - Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) - Mecca stood on her head to help Albertus secure a 1-0 victory over Regis (Mass.) on Saturday afternoon, as she tallied 13 saves to earn her second career shutout. Two of Mecca's most crucial saves came in the final 11 minutes, as the sophomore keeper turned away a penalty kick and made a diving save on another attempt. Those two stops allowed the Falcons to break the 0-0 tie with a game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.

CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Victoria Schaffner, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., GK - Waterbury, Conn.) - Schaffner was superb between the pipes for the Blue Jays in a 1-0-1 week and was instrumental in helping USJ run its shutout streak to five straight games to start the 2021 season. The Blue Jays are the only team in the GNAC to not allow a goal so far this season and are 4-0-1 with five shutouts. Schaffner opened the week making a pair of saves in 45 minutes of action of a 6-0 rout over MCLA. She followed that up with a career-high seven stops on Saturday in GNAC action at home versus perennial powerhouse Johnson & Wales in a 0-0 double-overtime draw. It marked the first time since 2014 that the Blue Jays had not been defeated by the Wildcats. Schaffner leads the GNAC with a perfect 1.000 save percentage and is 3-0-1 on the year.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Addie LeGault, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, F - Farmington, Conn.) - After missing several games due to injury, LeGault returned to the pitch on Saturday, scoring both goals including the game-winner to power Emmanuel past Elms in GNAC action, 2-1. The sophomore was a handful for the Blazers defense, attempting a game-high seven shots, landing four on frame including the two scores.

HONOR ROLL
Amanda McGeehan, Albertus Magnus (Jr., M - Milford, Conn.) - McGeehan scored the game-winning goal to propel Albertus to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Regis (Mass.) on Saturday afternoon in GNAC play. The junior midfielder calmly gathered a pass at the top of the box and sent the ball flying over the keeper for her first goal of the season. As a midfielder, McGeehan also helped the Falcons' defense earn the team's second shutout of the 2021 campaign.
Alyssa DeOliveira, Lasell (Fr., M/F - East Providence, R.I.) - In the Saturday contest against Dean, she scored two goals to help the Lasers to a 3-0 GNAC victory.
Priscilla Martinelli, Lasell (Fr., F - Plymouth, Mass.) - She assisted on all three of the Lasell goals in their 3-0 GNAC victory over Dean.
Celine Juneau, Norwich (Fr., F - Chazy, N.Y.) - Juneau scored her first collegiate goal and then added another to lead Norwich to a 3-1 win over NVU Johnson on Wednesday. Juneau scored the game-winning goal in the NVU Johnson victory as well.
Jenna Zup, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M - Berlin, Conn.) - Zup exploded for a five-point week to help lead the Blue Jays to a 1-0-1 record. Zup netted a pair of goals, including the first of her career, and added an assist on Wednesday to power the Blue Jays to a 6-0 rout of MCLA at home on Tuesday before the Blue Jays played to a 0-0 stalemate Saturday versus perennial GNAC powerhouse Johnson & Wales at home on Saturday.
Shauna Clark, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (2025, M - Oakland, Maine) - Clark scored two goals and added an assist in a 1-2 week for the Monks. The freshman midfielder notched a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over Anna Maria on Saturday.
