GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 6
Rivier's David Smith and Cam Roth took home GNAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK David Smith, Rivier (Sr, OH - Clinton, Ohio) Smith led Rivier to a 2-1 week with the Raiders lone loss coming at the hands of No. 1 Springfield. The senior recorded double-digit kills in all three matches played and averaged 4.25 kills, 1.67 digs, 0.58 aces and 0.50 blocks per set while hitting .127. Smith highlighted his week with a 26-kill effort in a 3-1 win over Elms, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Division III national poll. He also had 12 kills in a 3-1 win over GNAC foe JWU and had 13 in the four-set setback to the Pride, as the Raiders managed to take one set from the top-ranked team in the nation. |

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Cam Roth, Rivier (Sr, OH - Coventry, RI) Roth helped Rivier to a 2-1 week with the Raiders' lone loss coming at the hands of No. 1 Springfield. The senior libero recorded double-digit digs in all three matches to average 4.08 digs per set. Roth highlighted his week with a 25-dig performance in a 3-1 setback to the nation's top-ranked team, and he also had 14 digs in a 3-1 win over Elms, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Division III national poll. |

WEEK 6 HONOR ROLL
Seamus McDonagh, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, S - Long Beach, N.Y.) - Enjoyed a solid all-around week for Emmanuel averaging 5.55 assists, 2.00 digs, 1.91 kills, 0.55 blocks and 0.45 aces per set. The senior dished out a season-high 41 helpers vs. Nichols and then was one dig shy of a rare triple-double in a 3-0 win vs. St. Joseph's (Brkln), collecting 13 kills, 10 assists and nine digs, adding four blocks in the victory for Emmanuel.
Jack Pincince, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., OH - South Kingstown, RI) - Averages 3.93 kills and 1.63 digs while hitting .252 ... notched 20 kills against Rivier...just missed a double-double with 21 kills and 9 digs versus Lasell ... had 9 more kills against Wentworth
Garrett Linnell, Lasell (Fr., RS/S - Las Vegas, Nev.) - Linnell found the floor for 35 kills in the three matches in the week. He averaged 2.69 kills/set and hit .244 overall. Linnell was credited with 11 kills while hitting .588% in the loss to Wentworth on Saturday. He also finished the three-game span with 15 digs.
Inelson Alves, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., OH/RS - Brockton, Mass.) - Alves has emerged as one of Regis' leading players as the season has moved on. Wednesday at Sage, he tied his career high with 12 kills, averaging four kills per set to lead the Pride. Saturday, he helped Regis defeat Eastern Nazarene in four sets with 10 kills, one assist, one service ace, one block assist, and a season-high nine digs. Alves continues to lead the team in kills and service aces with 87 kills and 13 service aces through the first 14 matches.
Zabdiel Frias, Regis (Mass.) (So., DS - Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) - Frias led the Pride in the backline during its two matches over the past week. Wednesday night, he collected seven digs against the Sage Gators. Saturday, he finished with a career-high 26 digs, averaging 6.5 digs per set as the Pride avenged an earlier loss with a four-set victory over Eastern Nazarene. He moved into fifth place in the GNAC for the season with 2.45 digs per set. Frias has already advanced into sixth place on Regis' all-time digs list with 284 career digs through his first 39 matches.
Peter Klembczyk, Wentworth (Jr., L - Penfield, N.Y.) - In a perfect 3-0 week for WIT, Klembczyk held down the defense with 3.25 digs per set with 26 total. He finished the week with back-to-back double-digit digs, recording 10 vs Lasell and 12 vs JWU.
Augusto Rodriguez-Guerrios, Wentworth (Sr., S - San Juan, Puerto Rico) - Served as Wentworth's key passer in a 3-0 week, averaging a thunderous 10.38 assists per set for 83 total. In all three matches he booked double-digit assists, highlighted by two 30+ performances in a key league tri-match with Lasell and JWU. He dished out 35 assists in the sweep against the Lasers, and booked 30 assists vs the Wildcats. Also averaged .88 blocks per set.
