Several Student-Athletes represented the Great Northeast Athletic Conference at the 8th Annual Brian J. Honan 5k Road Race this past weekend, an event that our member institutions have been volunteering at since its inception. The teams contributed to the day’s success by setting up the race day headquarters, taking registrations, working water stations, handing out medals at the finish line, holding mile markers, and cheering on the participants.

Suffolk University Head Baseball Coach Cary McConnell earned his 400th win in a Suffolk uniform on Saturday evening as the Rams topped the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats 7-2 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament.
STANDISH, ME – Top-seeded Saint Joseph’s (29-11, 12-2 GNAC) negated a 6-2 deficit with six unanswered runs and defeated #3 Suffolk University (20-19, 9-5 GNAC), 8-6, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball Championship at Larry Mahaney Diamond on Sunday afternoon. Monks pinch-hitter Dan Brown ’12 (Portland, ME/Deering) broke a six-all tie in the top of the ninth with an RBI double and later scored an insurance run on an infield error during the final frame.
The 2011 GNAC Baseball Playoff pairings are now available. The St. Joseph’s Maine Monks will clinch the top seed in the playoffs with a remarkable conference record of 12-2, and overall record of 26-11.
