Championship History
Tournament Format
Four teams from each division will qualify for the GNAC Softball Championship Tournament for a total of eight Championship teams. The eight teams will be split into two double-elimination pods. Pod A will be the #1 North seed, #2 South seed, #3 South seed, and the #4 North seed. Pod B will be the #1 South seed, #2 North seed, #3 North seed, and the #4 South seed. In the GNAC Softball Championship Tournament Pod Play, on the first day of Pod Play (Wednesday), games will be played highest seed in each matchup (#1 North seed, #1 South Seed, #2 North Seed, #2 South seed). In Pod Play Day 2 and Finals (Sat-Sun.), the top seeds will host in their respective pods (#1 North in Pod A and #1 South seed in Pod B). If both divisions are represented, the North Division team will host in even years and the South Division will host in odd years (regardless of location of previous championship). If only one division is represented, the highest remaining seed will host the championship series the following week.
All-Tournament Team
Eleven individuals will be selected. Coaches will choose the player(s) from their own team to be selected. The number of selections each team is allowed is as follows:
Champion – 3 players
Runner-up –3 players
Other two Pod finalists – 2 players each
Tournament Most Valuable Player – 1 player
Host Site Administrator is responsible for contacting the other two semifinalists’ teams for their All-Tournament representative prior to the championship.
