GNAC POTY McCool Earns AVCA All-Region Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. - 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Year McKenna McCool was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) last week on Tuesday (Nov. 19) as she was honored as an All-Region Region 1 Honorable Mention Selection.
McCool spearheaded the attack of a Lasell offense that led the GNAC in multiple categories offensively including kills, kill/set, service aces, and points. The Loomis, California product finished in the top-five in the conference in a few offensive categories individually. She ranked fifth in kills (316), second in attack percentage with .328 (per NCAA statistical requirements), and third in points (395.5) and points per set (3.9). The senior had collected double-digit kills in 18 matches, including a season-best 20 kills against Kean (NJ) last month. McCool collected three double-doubles on the season as well. The Lasers' Outside Hitter was also recognized by the conference twice as Player of the Week (Oct. 7 and Oct. 21). McCool's offensive leadership led her team to the top seed in the conference this past season for the first time in program history and they went back to the conference title match, winning the GNAC Championship before facing Ithaca in the first round of the 2024 DIII NCAA Women's Volleyball National Tournament.
