Track Athlete Of The Week
Leah O'Neill, Colby-Sawyer (Sr.)
Senior Leah O'Neill had a career day at the SNHU Spring Invitational in Steeplechase. Leah would finish second overall beating the next closest competitor by 8 seconds. Her time of 12:17 was also one second off of an 11 year school record. Leah would also put herself atop the conference performance list.
Field Athlete of the Week
Lauren MacDonald, Colby-Sawyer (So.)
Sophomore Lauren Macdonald made her collegiate debut for the Outdoor track team in style with a 5th place finish in shot put during the SNHU Spring Invitational. Lauren's throw of 11.33m already puts her a whole meter ahead of anyone else in the conference performance list. Out of three other GNAC throwers in shot put this weekend, MacDonald led the way for the conference.
Rookie Of The Week
Zoe Kirk, Regis (Fr.)
Freshman Zoe Kirk led the way with a standout day, posting a 16.99 in the 100-meter hurdles prelims to rank third all-time among first-years and tie for fifth in program history, before finishing fourth in the finals (17.70). She also tied a program record in the high jump (1.42m) and added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (10.24m), the second-best mark all-time by a first-year. She also joined the 4x100-meter relay team and capped the day with a third-place finish in 52.88.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Olivia Costa, Emmanuel - Costa placed second at the SNHU Invitational with 1:02.75 in the 400 meters and leads the conference in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:10.31, which was set at the invitational with a fourth-place finish.
Molly Hough, Emmanuel - Hough finished third in the 3k steeplechase at 12:35.55, which is good for second in the conference leaderboard.
Lauren Ayotte, Lasell- Ayotte made finals in both Javelin and Discus at the Jon Tymann Invite, finishing eighth in the Discus and 10th in the Javelin with marks of 27.90m in the Disc and 27.80m in the Javelin. Her marks are good for second best in the GNAC in the Discus, and fourth in the Javelin.
Ellie Leech, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Leech led the women’s field-event group with a fifth-place finish and DIII New England Provisional qualifying mark of 34.85m (114' 4") in the javelin. She also added a ninth-place finish in the discus at 26.92m (88' 4") and competed on the Monks’ fourth-place 4x100-meter relay team, capping one of the most complete performances of the day.
Ava Smart, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Smart turned in a record-setting performance for Saint Joseph’s, breaking the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 26.81. She also ran on the Monks’ fourth-place 4x100-meter relay team that finished in 52.15, helping a strong day for the women’s sprint group. Smart now sits second in the conference in the women's 200 meters.
Talya DeGraw, Simmons - DeGraw crossed the finish line in the 100m dash at the timer struck 13.31 (+2.3) to earn fifth place.
