Swimmer Of The Week
Sophia Caruso, Regis (Fr.)
Freshman Sophia Caruso made an immediate impact for the Crimson and Gold, sweeping her individual events with wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.58), 50-yard freestyle (25.81), and 100-yard freestyle (57.53). She also opened the meet with a first-place finish as part of the 200-yard medley relay team that clocked in at 2:05.50. All three of her individual victories ranked among the top 20 times in Regis program history, highlighted by her 200-yard freestyle performance, which placed her sixth all-time.
Diver Of The Week
Reilly Laitala, Norwich (Sr.)
Senior Reilly Laitala picked up right where she left off last season in Norwich's season-opener at the Keene State Sprint Pentathlon, winning the 1-meter diving competition with a meet-best score of 215.65, in a field of four divers.
Rookie Of The Week
Delaney Allen, Norwich (Fr.)
Freshman Delaney Allen impressed in her collegiate debut at Keene State's Sprint Pentathlon on Saturday, coming in fourth overall in a unique meet format where five sprint-distance events combined into a cumulative total to determine overall rankings. She amassed a 3:07.82 time across five events, including coming in third in the 50-yard butterfly (28.68), 11th in the 50-yard backstroke (32.37), fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke (34.43), second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.57), and third in the 100-yard IM (1:05.77). She also swam the final leg in both of Norwich's top 200-yard medley and freestyle relay teams, which both came in third overall.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Christina Dupre-Honda, Regis - On the diving board, she dominated the competition, winning the 1-meter event with a score of 158.80, 31.6 points ahead of second place. She followed that performance with another impressive 1-meter score of 186.60, finishing just 2.2 points shy of the school record in her collegiate debut.
Alina Niemczyk, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Niemczyk had a stellar first meet against Regis, first swimming the third-leg of the second place 200 yard medley relay team. The sophomore than won two events on the day, first claiming the top-spot in the 50 yard fly, posting a time of 30.10 seconds, before winning the 100 yard IM in 1:12.58.
