Swimmer Of The Week
Carli Quinlan, Simmons (Sr.)
Senior Carli Quinlan raced her way to three first place finishes this past weekend against Elms and Regis. In the 50 yard breaststroke, Quinlan raced her way to a first place finish (33.55) and took first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:29.79. Quinlan ended her night with a win in the 100 yard individual medley (1:05.03).
Diver Of The Week
Christina Dupre-Honda (Fr.)
Freshman Christina Dupre-Honda opened the weekend with 330.85 points in the one-meter 11 dive program to take the top spot. Then at Simmons University, Dupre-Honda took first place in the one-meter, 11-dive event with a score of 227.55. She later closed the meet by claiming the top spot on the three-meter board in the six-dive program, scoring 161.80 - helping her team to wins over both the hosts and Elms.
Rookie Of The Week
Sophia Caruso, Regis (Fr.)
Freshman Sophia Caruso claimed the top spot in the 200, touching the wall in a personal-best 2:02.36, nearly 11 seconds fasterthan the runner-up. Then on Saturday, she captured the top spot in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.25, continuing her streak as the Pride's leader in the event at every meet this season. Caruso added another victory in the 100 freestyle, winning in 55.77 and finishing more than two seconds ahead of the runner-up.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Joni McGillis, Elms - McGillis took home first in the 50-yard butterfly (30.12) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.75) before finishing runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (27.48).
Delaney Allen, Norwich - Allen continued her impactful debut season with a victory and two additional top-three finishes in a 170-92 setback at Eastern Connecticut State. Allen led all competitors in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:06.74 finish, more than two seconds ahead of the field. She also took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.85) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.76), while anchoring the Cadets’ winning 200-yard freestyle relay team that touched in 1:48.59.
Anna Gosselin, Norwich - Gosselin delivered another commanding performance for Norwich, sweeping both distance freestyle events in a dual meet at Eastern Connecticut State. Gosselin opened her afternoon by cruising to a 12:16.56 victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, winning by nearly 20 seconds. She followed with a dominant showing in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:56.53 to become one of only two competitors to break the six-minute mark. Her wire-to-wire control in both events helped anchor Norwich's four event wins in the regular season finale.
Sophia Caruso, Regis - Caruso claimed first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.97, edging the runner-up by more than a second. She followed that performance with another top finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 55.32. Caruso also posted a women's swim and dive season-best time of 1:10.48 in the 100 backstroke to earn a runner-up finish.
Alina Niemczyk, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Niemczyk kept her impressive sophomore campaign rolling this weekend, posting runner-up finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:37.27) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.02). She also played a key role in the team’s second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay.
