Shangraw, Miranda & Case Earn ECAC Player of the Week Recognition

BOSTON, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced that three Great Northeast Athletic Conference student-athletes earned Weekly Honors for their athletic accomplishments last week. Saint Joseph's College senior forward Kyle Shangraw (Westbrook, Maine) was named the Men's Soccer Offensive Co-Player of the Week, Suffolk University senior forward Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Albertus Magnus sophomore goalkeeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) was named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Shangraw tallied three goals and an assist in an important conference victory over Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon. With the scoring outburst, the senior midfielder broke the program's single-match mark for points and tied the team record for goals in a contest.

Through 15 games for the 10-4-1 Monks, Shangraw leads the side in goals (13), points (32) and game-winners (6) and is tied with Zach Johnson (Westbrook, Maine) for the team-lead in assists (6). He currently ranks as the conference-leader in goals, points, shots (74) and game-clinchers and is also ninth in in all of NCAA DIII Men's Soccer in both goals and total points, as of October 13th.

Shangraw, who claimed ECAC Offensive Player of the Week mention on September 16th as well, shares this week's ECAC regional honor with Billy Hawkey of Connecticut College.

Miranda netted Suffolk's two goals in their 2-1 victory over Johnson & Wales University last Wednesday and then played a part in all five Rams' goals in a 5-0 victory over Norwich University on Saturday. Miranda recorded her fourth career hat trick in the win over the Cadets bringing her season total nine, while also adding two assists in the game.

Miranda currently ranks third among all GNAC players with her nine tallies and is second in the league with four game-winning goals.

Case tallied two shutouts in the Falcons' 2-0 week as she tallied a career-high 13 saves at Simmons College on Saturday in a 1-0 win. She tallied 17 saves on the week to improve her career total to 89 (before Albertus' Monday afternoon victory). 

After the Falcons' 6-0 win on Monday, Case now has seven shutouts on the year to mark a single-season women's soccer program record, surpassing both Christina Dineson and Christina Oddo who registered six shutouts in 2012 and 2008, respectively.
