Emmanuel, JWU Take Top Divisional Spots In 2025 WLAX Postseason Tournament
WINTHROP, Mass. – Emmanuel and Johnson & Wales both claimed the top seeds within their respective divisions in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which begins Thursday, April 24 with two Play-In games. Quarterfinals play will follow on Saturday, April 26 with the Semifinals set for Wednesday, April 30. The Championship match will be held on the following Saturday, May 3, with the winner being crowned the 2025 GNAC Women's Lacrosse Champion and earning the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Emmanuel earned the top spot in the North Division with a 6-1 GNAC North record (10-1 in conference) in which their tie with No. 2 seed Norwich (6-1 North, 10-1 GNAC) was broken in yesterday's contest where the Saints defeated the Cadets 15-10. Saint Joseph's (Maine) comes in this year as the third seed with a 5-2 divisional record (9-2 GNAC) while Colby-Sawyer solidifed the four seed with a 4-3 division record (7-4 conference) and Simmons grabs the final spot at #5N as they finished 3-4 in division (6-5 GNAC) after their head-to-head win over Rivier stamped their postseason berth.
JWU takes the top spot in the South after going undefeated in South Divisional Play at 7-0 (9-2 GNAC) as they will look to three-peat in this year's tournament. It was a competitive fight for the two seed in the South as there was three-way tie between Dean, Lasell, and Regis (5-2 Division Play). Lasell earned the two seed via the league's tiebreaking criteria. Dean collected the three seed while Regis collected no. 4 and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) collected the fifth seed.
The play-in games will feature a match-up between the #4N seed and the #5N seed while the #4S seed and the #5S seed will face each other for a spot in the quarterfinals match-up.
From there, the rest of postseason play will have crossover matchups with North/South facing each other in quarterfinals play with the quarterfinals winners heading into semifinals play. After that, the semifinals winners will clash in a battle for the 2025 GNAC Women's Lacrosse title and a spot in the NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
