Player of the Week
Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.), Junior, Guard, Albertus Magnus College
Led by Carrero, who scored 23 points, including the 1,000th of her career, Albertus stunned St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn 76-71 at the Barclays Center, home of the Nets, on Saturday. Carrero scored her 1,000th point in the second half of the contest on a free throw to become the 10th all-time Albertus Magnus women's basketball to reach that coveted milestone. She scored 21 of her 23 points in the second half. Carrero also had a solid performance against Newbury College on Friday night as she scored 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and a 6-of-7 performance from the charity stripe.
Rookie of the Week
Olivia Sutherland (Wallingford, Conn.), Freshman, Guard, Albertus Magnus College
Sutherland shot 44.4% from the floor and scored 7.5 points per game in two contests on the week. She also shot 87.5% from the free-throw line, which included four-straight key free throws in Saturday's win against St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, home of the Nets. Sutherland also pulled down eight rebounds to go along with seven points against Newbury on Friday night as she came off the bench for the Falcons, sparking their offense that was struggling from the floor.
