Saints & Falcons Earn Top 25 Rankings in D3hoops.com Poll
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's basketball team is ranked 16th in the nation and the Albertus Magnus men’s basketball team is ranked 23rd in the nation according to this week’s D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's basketball team is ranked 16th in the nation and the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team is ranked 23rd in the nation according to this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll.
The Saints are 3-0 on the year following a 65-47 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University last Tuesday. The Falcons are 2-0 on the year after an 82-73 win over Wesleyan (Conn.) on Sunday afternoon. The 2-2 Cardinals were ranked 23rd in the preseason poll in October but dropped out of the poll this week after their loss to the Falcons.
On the women's side, DePauw claimed the No. 1 spot with 23 first-place votes and a 5-0 record as Calvin dropped down to the No. 4 spot after falling to UW-Stevens Point. The MIT men remained in the No. 1 spot with a 4-0 overall record and 10 first-place votes, while Virginia Wesleyan remained at No. 2 with six first-place votes and a 2-0 record. UW-Whitewater rounded out the top-three teams.
In the pre-season poll, Emmanuel claimed the No. 19 spot while the Falcons received votes but were just outside the top 25. Last season, the Falcons were ranked as high as 15th in the nation and finished the year 20th while the Saints ended the season at 18th following their Elite 8 appearance.
Albertus will host Mitchell College on Tuesday night in a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match-up. Mitchell is 3-0 on the year. Emmanuel will head to Brandeis University the same night for a 7:00 p.m. match-up against the 2-2 Judges.
