GNAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 3
Suffolk took home three individual awards in the GNAC's Week 3 report on Monday afternoon, highlighted by 4:24 mile from the Rams' Matyas Csiki-Fejer at USM.

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Matyas Csiki-Fejer, Suffolk (Sr., Manchester, Mo.) - Matyas Csiki-Fejer easily punched his tickets to regionals in the mile at USM's COVID Catch-Up as he topped 16-runner field with a time of 4:24.66, nearly 3 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Michael Olson of Plymouth State. Csiki-Fejer's performance in the event is the best by a student-athlete in the GNAC this season. |

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Erin Kelley, Regis (Sr., Stoneham, Mass.) - Kelley broke a long-standing school record Saturday at the Middlebury Winterfell. In the 3000 meter run, she finished with a time of 11:05.29, exactly 53 seconds quicker than her previous personal best time in the event posted two years ago. By 1.59 seconds, she broke the school record previously set almost eight full years ago (Feb. 8, 2014). Kelley finished fifth in the event behind only two runners from the University of Vermont and two runners from Amherst College |

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Michael Balestra, Suffolk (Sr., Lincoln, R.I.) - Balestra took second in the weight throw at USM's COVID Catch-Up with a toss of 13.14 meters, which is the best performance by a student-athlete in the GNAC this season |

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Caitlyn Filloramo, Suffolk (Fr., Southport, Conn.) - Filloramo won the weight throw at USM's COVID Catch-Up. Her toss of 12.89 meters not only topped the 16-person field Sunday, but sits atop GNAC performances this year as well. The freshman also took fourth in the shot put with a 9.77-meter throw. She was the best rookie in the 22-person field. |

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Dylan Flewelling, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Oakland, Maine) - Flewelling had an outstanding run at Wheaton on January 21. Flewelling finished 2nd overall in the 5000-meter race featuring opponents from the NESCAC, NEWMAC, and UAA powerhouses. Flewelling finished with a personal best of 16:10.56, finishing 1 minute and 22 seconds better than his previous best. |
GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Samantha Carus, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Brownfield , Maine) - Carus placed 3rd overall in her race at Wheaton College on Friday. Carus finished the 5000-meter race with a 19:21.78 time beating her old personal record by three-minutes.
Hannah Fitzpatrick, Emmanuel (Sr., Revere, Mass.) - Fitzpatrick ran well at the Ramapo College Opener on Friday in New York, finishing the 600 meter race in a time of 1:53.37. She also ran a leg in the Saints 4x400 relay team, running the fastest split on the squad at 1:08.84 to help the team to a time of 4:47.03, the second fastest time among D-III schools competing.
Michael Carroll, Regis (Jr., Lynn, Mass.) - Carroll used a personal-best performance to score points for Regis at Saturday's Middlebury Winterfell. He finished seventh (fourth among Division III competitors) in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:28.20, his best collegiate time in the event by over four seconds. He also was part of the 4x400 meter relay that finished in 10th place overall in 3:51.00.
Ryan Farr, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (So., Gorham, Maine) - Farr (Gorham, Maine) won the 400-Meter Dash and qualified for the NCAA DIII New England Regionals with a 51.20 effort at Southern Maine on Sunday. He also finished sixth in the 55-Meter Dash (6.94).
Samantha VanDeMoere, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Sr., Thornton, N.H.) - VanDeMoere placed first in the 600-Meter Run (1:50.16) at Southern Maine on Sunday
Carter Nevulis, Suffolk (Fr., Plymouth, Mass.) - Nevulis finished first in the 55m hurdles at USM's COVID Catch-Up with a school-record time of 8.21. That mark tops the GNAC standings as of today as well. The freshman also put together a personal-record in the long jump with a leap of 6.44 meters to take third in the 11-person field.
Amanda Walden, Suffolk (So., Essex Junction, Vt.) - Walden took third in both the 55 and 200 at USM's COVID Catch-Up. Both times were season-bests for the sophomore. In the 55, she clocked 7.86 in the 55 and a 28.00 in the 200.
