Seven Named To NFCA DIII All-Region Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Student-Athletes were named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Region I All-Region Team as announced by the NFCA last Thursday (May 15). Johnson & Wales and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) each had three members placed while Simmons had one student-athlete named to the All-Region team as well. For the Wildcats, 2025 GNAC Player of the Year Mackenzie Clee made first-team honors while her teammates Mady Lyons and Katie Scheid both placed on the second and third teams, respectively. For the Blue Jays, all three made the third-team with Jennifer Anotonowicz, Alyssa Roberts, and Jenna Zup representing USJ on the list. Lastly, Simmons' Raya Anderson represented the Sharks on the third team.
Clee led the conference in runs (50) and placed second in on-base pct. (.490), fourth in average (.433), and third in hits (55), and is tied for ninth in stolen bases (12), tied for 10th in walks (18), and 18th in slugging pct. (.551). The Warminster, Pennsylvania native hit safely in 34 of the team's 41 games, including 14 multi-hit efforts. Scheid tied for the lead the conference in wins (14), was third in earned run average (ERA) (2.65), and first in complete games (17) in 2025. Lyons led the GNAC in hits (60), home runs (13), RBI (54), and slugging pct. (.790), was tied for third in doubles (14), and ranked sixth in average (.420) and 12th in on-base pct. (.451). The Prior Lake, Minnesota native drove in two-or-more runs in 13 games.
Antonowicz notched a .388 batting average while recording a team-high 50 hits, 34 runs scored, seven doubles, seven triples and 17 stolen bases. The sophomore also tallied 26 RBI, seven walks, a .413 on-base percentage and a team-best .550 slugging percentage. Defensively, Antonowicz posted a career-high 78 putouts, 53 assists and a .963 fielding percentage. Roberts paced the team at the plate, recording a .400 batting average and 29 RBIs. She also tallied 10 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, nine walks, a .448 on-base percentage and a .495 slugging percentage. In the circle, the Naugatuck, Conn., native paced the staff with a 3.25 ERA, an 8-7 record, three saves, 10 complete games and 41 strikeouts across 103.1 innings. Her ERA ranked seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), and her batting average placed 13th. Zup slashed .373/.412/.478 with a team-high 50 hits. The shortstop also recorded 33 runs scored, six doubles, five triples, one home run, 19 RBIs, a team-best 18 walks and six stolen bases. Her hit total ranked 10th in the GNAC, while she finished seventh in runs scored. Defensively, Zup posted a career-high 87 putouts, 74 assists and a .947 fielding percentage.
Anderson meanwhile recorded a career year with the Sharks, posting a .409 batting average while also becoming the program's all-time leader in stolen bases with 59.
