SOFTBALL: JWU Eliminated by Arcadia Following NCAA Tourney Win Over Lesley

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Johnson & Wales Softball team split their final two games of the NCAA Tournament, bowing out at the regional hosted by Arcadia after winning the GNAC Championship. The Wildcats close out the season with a 37-8 overall record, as Julia Huzi (Trumbull, Conn.) and Sage Borkowski (Oxford, Conn.) were named to the All-Tournament team.
JWU 4, Lesley 1
The Wildcats waited in a rain delay until late on Saturday afternoon to take on the Lesley Lynx. The teams stayed scoreless until the final inning of play.
JWU started the scoring in the top of the seventh inning, when Mackenzie Clee (Warminster, Pa.) singled home Alexis Falcigno for the opening run. JWU added three more runs in the inning, with Huzi bringing home the game-winning run.
JWU won the game, advancing to take on Arcadia on Sunday morning.
Arcadia 4, JWU 2
In the second game, the Wildcats fell behind in the top of the first inning, with Arcadia scoring three runs. They opened the scoring on a Megan Sooy single that plated two, before Sooy came around to score later in the inning.
JWU responded in the bottom of the third, with a two run single of their own, this time by Caroline Amorelli (Winslow, N.J.). Huzi and Jill Pulek (Chesire, Conn.) SCored on the play, cutting the wildcat deficit to one.
JWU was unable to find another run, eventually falling 4-2 in seven innings.
