Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Report - Week 6
Player of the Week
Nicole Peacock (Warwick, R.I.), Junior, Infielder, Rivier University
Peacock has an all around solid week for the Raiders. The junior went 11-17 on the week, registering a .647 average for the week. The junior hit three doubles, one triple, and one home run on the week, and led her team to a 4-1 week. She also contributed with six stolen bases on the week. In five games, peacock did not have any errors in the field.
Pitcher of the Week
Tayla Gardner (Orangeburg, N.Y.), Junior, Pitcher, Johnson & Wales University (R.I.)
The junior went 2-0 with a save to help lead the Wildcats to a perfect 4-0 week. In 19 and two third innings of work, Gardner allowed just one earned run. Additionally, the pitcher finished with 28 strikeouts and just 10 hits on the week.
Rookie of the Week
Catherine Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.), Freshman, Shortstop, Emmanuel College
Davis continued her solid play as the Saints leadoff hitter, registering a .636 average on the week to help Emmanuel post a 4-2 record. The shortstop hit safely in all six games including five multi-hit outings. The rookie also collected seven RBI to go along with five stolen bases and two walks for the Saints. The Wethersfield, Conn. native slugged .818 on the week to go along with an impressive .640 on base percentage.
