Track Athlete Of The Week
Cameren Candelaria, Lasell (So.)
Sophomore Cameren Candelaria runs school record 22.80 in the 200m at UMass Lowell Riverhawk Invite, ranking him second in the GNAC in the event, placing 37th in a competitive field of primarily DI and DII teams. He finished ninth among DIII athletes as it was a provisional DIII New England Qualifying performance.
Field Athlete/Rookie Of The Week
Stephen Pierre, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Fr.)
Freshman Stephen Pierre put together a huge day at the Maine State Indoor Championships, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.92m (6’ 3.5”) and placing second in the long jump at 6.79m (22’ 3.5”), both New England Division III qualifying marks. He also ran 8.53 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, hitting the New England Division III provisional standard and breaking the Saint Joseph’s school record before turning his focus to the jumps. Pierre’s performance won him the Peter M. Goodrich Men’s Field MVP Award, the first time a Saint Joseph's athlete has won this award since it was established in 2003.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Brady Curley, Colby-Sawyer - Curley had a massive week for the Chargers as he finished the weekend with two personal bests. He first ran a new best in the 60m dash where he crossed the line in a time of 7.31. Brady would go on to top his 200m personal best by half a second with a time of 23.12.
John Read, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Sophomore hurdler John Read placed sixth in his running event for the Monks, advancing from prelims with an 8.77 in the 60-meter hurdles to secure a sixth-place finish in the final at 8.73. Read sits in second just behind teammate Stephen Pierre within the conference rankings.
