GNAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 1
Lasell and Regis both saw two student-athletes receive GNAC accolades in the first indoor track & field report of the 2022-23 season.

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Brady Mackechnie, Lasell (So., East Longmeadow, Mass.) - He finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.97s, 4th in the long jump with a jump of 6.43m, and 16th in the 200m with a time of 24.68s. His time in the hurdle event set a new program record, besting his own previous record of 9.51s. He set that previous record back in February. |

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK & WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Ariel Foster, Lasell (Fr., Dorchester, Mass.) - She finished first in the 60 with a time of 7.90s, and fourth in the 200m with a time of 26.47s. Both of those marks set new school records. The previous 60m record was 8.28s, set by Melissa Cooley in 2013. The previous record in the 200m was also held by Melissa Cooley, her time was 26.73, and was done in 2016. |

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK & Justin Thuotte, Regis (Fr., Lebanon, Conn.) - Thuotte started his collegiate career with a strong performance at the Suffolk Relays Saturday. He finished second in the triple jump with a top mark of 12.69 meters (41' 7.75") accomplished on his final attempt. Thuotte also finished 10th in the high jump by clearing 1.75 meters (5' 8.75") and tied for 11th in the long jump with a mark of 6.14 meters (20' 1.75"). |

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Anastazia Copeland, Regis (Jr., West Hartford, Conn.) - Copeland won the weight throw at the Suffolk Relays Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. On her first throw of the season, she posted a mark of 12.74 meters (41' 9.75"), eventually winning the event by over two feet. The throw was over 3.5 meters further than her previous collegiate best mark established at the 2022 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. |
