INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Associate Member Suffolk Paves Way in Championship Coaches' Polls

Second-ever GNAC indoor meet
scheduled for Sunday (11AM) at BU

WINTHROP, Mass. – Associate member Suffolk University has been chosen atop both coaches' polls ahead of this Sunday's 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, as announced on Friday by the league office. Held once again at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, Sunday's event will mark the second-ever GNAC indoor meet after a 24-month layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Events begin at 11:00 AM, as field activity get underway with the pole vault and track events commence with the 5000 meters. Click here for the complete event schedule.

The Suffolk men, who captured the 2020 GNAC Men's Indoor team title, collected all six first-place votes in the annual pre-championship coaches' poll. Colby-Sawyer College finished second with 29 points, followed by Saint Joseph's College of Maine in the third spot with 25 points.

The Rams women also took home all six first-place votes, with CSC landing 28 points for the second position, just ahead of third-place Regis College with 24 points. Two years ago, it was Emmanuel College winning the inaugural GNAC indoor title, 174-114, over second-place Suffolk.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 14 member institutions and over 3,500 student-athletes across the New England region. Founded in 1995, the GNAC annually sponsors and administers 22 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunity and community involvement in an effort to enhance the student-athlete experience.
