MEN'S SOCCER: Gabriel's late-game heroics gives USJ Back-To-Back GNAC Titles
West Hartford, Conn. - It was an absolute thriller in this afternoon's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Championship game between no. 1 seed University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and no. 2 seed Rivier University as the top-seeded Blue Jays had late-game heroics from junior Nate Gabriel lift them to their second consecutive GNAC Men's Soccer championship victory.
Gabriel found the back of the net in the 89th minute of the contest, breaking a 2-2 tie that lasted since the 37th minute mark of the game and giving the Blue Jays their third GNAC title in the program's history.
With the victory, the Blue Jays improved to 13-4-2 overall on the season and earned the league's automatic qualifier into the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Rivier concludes its historic season at 9-5-7 overall after making its first GNAC Championship appearance since 1997.
The Blue Jays will learn their destination during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, November 10, at 11:30 a.m. on www.NCAA.com.
