( FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 28 - NOV. 3 )
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DeAnte Anderson, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., F - Bloomfield, Conn.)
Anderson had a five-point week to help the University of Saint Joseph to a pair of victories. In the final regular-season match of 2019, Anderson netted a pair of goals and assisted on another in a match the Blue Jays had to win or draw to secure a home game in the GNAC Quarterfinals. His efforts helped secure that home game with an eventual 6-2 victory over Albertus Magnus on Wednesday in the regular season finale.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Robert Wagenseller, Norwich (Fr., GK - Poway, Calif.)
Wagenseller stopped all three shots he faced on the week to lead Norwich to two victories over Lasell and Colby-Sawyer. Wagenseller's two saves vs. Colby-Sawyer led Norwich to its 16th straight GNAC Tournament semifinal appearance after a 1-0 victory.
CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Elias Gabrielsson, Norwich (Fr., D - Ostersund, Sweden) - Gabrielsson scored his first collegiate goal with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half of Saturday's 1-0 GNAC quarterfinal victory over Colby-Sawyer. Gabrielsson's game-winning goal lifted the Cadets to their 16th straight GNAC semifinal appearance.
Michael Torres, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M - Hartford, Conn.) - Torres provided the biggest goal in USJ men's soccer program history Saturday, netting the game-winner with 57 seconds remaining in regulation, to lift the Blue Jays over Albertus Magnus in the GNAC Quarterfinals. Torres' goal sends the USJ men's soccer team to the semifinals for the first time in the programs brief history. With time ticking off the clock in regulation, Torres collected the ball off a failed Albertus Magnus clear and fired a rocket into the back of the net to supply the game-winner in the 90th minute.
