Lasell, Rivier Take Top Divisional Spots In 2025 MLAX Postseason Tournament
WINTHROP, Mass. – Lasell and Rivier both claimed the top seeds within their respective divisions in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament after going undefeated in their respective divisions. Tournament play begins Saturday, April 26 with quarterfinals play, followed by semifinals which is set for Tuesday, April 29. The Championship match will be held on the following Saturday, May 3, with the winner being crowned the 2025 GNAC Men's Lacrosse Champion and earning the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
Rivier earned the top spot in the North Division with a 6-0 GNAC North record (9-0 in conference) as the Raiders had a perfect season in conference play. Emmanuel (5-1 North, 8-1 GNAC) earns the second seed in the North in this year's tournament. Saint Joseph's (Maine) comes in this year as the third seed with a 4-2 divisional record (5-4 GNAC) in which they secured earlier this evening over New England College (3-3 North, 4-4 GNAC), who takes the fourth and final north division spot in this year's tournament.
Lasell takes the top spot in the South after going undefeated in South Divisional Play at 5-0 (8-0 GNAC). Defending Champion University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) will look to defend their crown as the two seeded Blue Jays finished 4-1 in the South (6-3 GNAC). Dean is in the next spot after tonight's win against Johnson & Wales as that determined the tiebreaker for three in which the Bulldogs won 13-10, finishing the regular season at 3-2 in the South (6-3 GNAC) while JWU collects the four seed at 2-3 (4-5 GNAC).
Postseason play will have crossover matchups with North/South facing each other in quarterfinals play with the quarterfinals winners heading into semifinals play. After that, the semifinals winners will clash in a battle for the 2025 GNAC Men's Lacrosse title and a spot in the NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Tournament. View the playoff schedule below for more info:
