Norwich Run Comes to End with Loss at Tufts in NCAA Tournament Second Round

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Norwich University men's lacrosse team fell in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament Second Round to Tufts, 33-10, on Saturday.
Tufts took an 11-0 lead with 13:14 remaining in the second quarter, Callum Jones(Burlington, Ont.) put Norwich on the board scoring from behind the back of the net with 12:17 on the clock. The Jumbos then rattled off another six straight goals before Jones scored for the second time in the contest. Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) followed with a goal of his own at the 9:47 mark of the second quarter. Tufts scored back-to-back goals before The Cadets closed out the first half with a goal from Andrew Garrison (Berlin, N.J.) off a helper from Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.).
Tufts opened the second half with three straight goals before Payden Masaracchia(Enola, Pa.) found his thythm scoring off an assist from Garrison. A goal shortly after from the Jumbos, put Tufts up 23-5, but Norwich scored two goals back-to-back, both from Jones. After the Jumbos added four goals, Masaracchia scored to close out the third with the Cadets trailing 27-8.
In the opening 1:35 of the final frame, Jones scored again for Norwich. Tufts then scored six-straight goals, but Masaracchia responded with a goal of his own to put the Cadets in double-digits.
Norwich (19-2, 10-0 GNAC) closes out the season with their best record in program history. The Cadets also picked up their third Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title along with theeir third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in program history. Norwich also hosted their first NCAA Division III Tournament contest on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium and picked up theri first win in the NCAA Tournament.
