Host Albertus Magnus Leads After Day One Of 2025 GNAC Men's Golf Championship

Hamden, Conn. - Host Albertus Magnus holds a narrow lead at the top spot (316) after day one of the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at the New Haven Country Club. The Falcons were led by freshman Pierson Hester, who is battling for the top spot after placing second on the day with a 73 (+3). Other notable performances from Albertus came from Mason Sassu (fourth place) with a 77 and Nick Piselli with a +11 (ninth).

Creeping behind them with 321 points was Emmanuel, who had strong performances from freshman Sean Fenton, who sits at third with a +6 followed by junior teammate Ryan Brunet, who placed sixth with a +8. 

New England College and Norwich ended up tied for third on the day with a 322 score as the Pilgrims were led by freshman Emil Elias (+8) and senior Graham Hassan (+9), who both landed at the sixth and eighth spot respectively. Leading the Cadets and all golfers after day one was Cooper Bertrand, who shot a +1 (71) and his freshman teammate JD Mahoney finished fourth on the day with a +7.

Saint Joseph's (Maine) stands at five currently with 336 after freshman Jason Curran sits at the 10th spot, collecting a +12 score for the Monks. Dean (346), Elms (385), and Mitchell (406) rounded out the final spots in that order after day one. 

The second and final round of competition will begin tomorrow at 8:30 am at the New Haven Country Club.
