PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jalen Samuels, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., G/F) Senior Jalen Samuels helped lead the Blue Jays to a 2-0 start to the 2023-24 season. Samuels averaged 18.5 points on an efficient 57.7 percent (15-for-26) from the floor while also notching 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks per contest. In the season opener on Wednesday (Nov. 8), the senior forward contributed 17 points on 66.7 percent (8-for-12) shooting while also snagging four boards, two blocks, and a steal in a thrilling 83-79 victory over Yeshiva. Then, on Saturday (Nov. 11), Samuels put up 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks to help power the Blue Jays over nationally ranked #24 Middlebury, 68-62. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Charles Nogard, Norwich (So., F) Sophomore Charles Nogard had an impressive collegiate debut for the Cadets this week. Nogard averaged 14.3 points on an incredible 66.7 percent (16-for-24) field goal clip, while also averaging 4.7 boards and adding a steal and a block per contest. He went 7-for-9 for 16 points and snagged five boards in the season opener Wednesday (Nov. 8) against Wentworth. On Saturday (Nov. 11), he added 10 points and four boards in a 80-56 victory over Thomas (Maine). Yesterday, he added 17 points on 71.4 percent (5-for-7) and added five boards in a overtime setback against the University of Maine-Farmington. |
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Justice Washington, Albertus Magnus – Collected a double-double for the Falcons in a season-opening win vs. Babson. He put up 16 points (8-for-9 from the field) and 14 rebounds and added two steals and a block in 24 minutes of action.
Jaquan Mosley, Colby-Sawyer – Averaged 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in a 2-1 week for the Chargers. Mosley shot 53.5 percent (23-for-43) from the floor and 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from three-point range. Mosley notched 18 points and eight boards in the season-opener on Wednesday (Nov. 8) against Salem State. He then scored 24 points in a victory Friday (Nov. 10) over Gordon. The next day (Nov.11), he registered a double-double (13 points, 11 boards) in a victory over Emerson.
Donte Pope, Emmanuel – Averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and a block per game in a 1-1 start for the Saints. Pope started the season off on Wednesday (Nov. 8) with 24 points in a setback against Nichols. Yesterday (Nov. 12), he scored 19 points and collected seven rebounds in a 81-60 victory over Bowdoin.
Andy Madesko, Lasell – Registered a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while also collecting four assists and four steals in a 73-57 victory over Fitchburg State Saturday (Nov. 11).
Ahamadou Sillah, Rivier – Averaged 23 points per game and six rebounds per game, shooting 51.5 percent (17-for-33) from the floor. Opened up the Raiders season with 18 points and seven boards in a 74-68 victory over Roger Williams Thursday (Nov. 9). Then, on Saturday (Nov. 11), Sillah scored 28 points and grabbed five rebounds in a setback against MCLA.
Lence Altenor, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Averaged 16.5 points on 56 percent (14-for-25) from floor and 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from three-point range in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays. Altenor drained the game-winning shot in the season opener Wednesday night (Nov. 8), accounting for two of 12 points on the night. Then, on Saturday (Nov. 11), he scored 21 points with 19 of them coming in the second half in a win over nationally ranked Middlebury.
