GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 8
Albertus Magnus senior Justice Washinton and Lasell freshman Quinton Partee Jr. both captured their second weekly honors of the 2022-23 campaign on Monday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Justice Washington, Albertus Magnus (Sr., C/F - Hamden, Conn.) - Washington was outstanding in the Falcons' three games last week, averaging 12.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks with a pair of double-doubles in a 3-0 week for Albertus. He shot a stellar 60.9% (14-23) overall from the floor and 72.7% (8-11) from the FT line while playing just 25.0 minutes per contest. The reigning GNAC Player of the Week opened the week with a near triple-double, registering 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks against Colby-Sawyer, before tallying 10 points, 10 caroms and five more swats against Regis. He closed the week with 12 points and nine boards at Anna Maria, helping the Falcons secure three-straight 25-plus point wins in GNAC play. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Quinton Partee Jr., Lasell (Fr., F - Roswell, Ga.) - Partee Jr. averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Lasers for his second GNAC Rookie of the Week award during the 2022-23 campaign. The first-year shot an incredible 12-of-14 from the floor for an 85.7% clip. |
GNAC HONOR ROLL
Kevin Cummings, Colby-Sawyer (So, G - Portsmouth, N.H.) - Cummings had a solid week for the Chargers (1-1) averaging 16.5 points and 6.0 rrebound per game in 29 minutes per game. He turned in a 23-point, seven-rebound performance on Thursday against Rivier to lead CSC to a 75-68 win, which came after scoring 10 points in 22 minutes in a road loss to Albertus.
Jakobi Greenleaf, Dean (Jr, F - Houston, Texas) - Greenleaf averaged 12.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting an impressive 70.8% (17-24 FG) from the floor. The junior added 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs. Greenleaf began the week with 10 points on 5-7 shooting and 8 boards to help the team to an 8-point home win over Norwich. The forward ended the week with game-highs of 23 points (10-13 FG) and 12 rebounds to lift Dean to a road win at Elms.
Aireus Raspberry, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., G - Cranston, R.I.) - Raspberry averaged 19.5 points and 7.7 rebounds for the Wildcats in a 1-2 week. He scored 25 points in back-to-back outings against Anna Maria and Mitchell, and also netted 14 against No. 1 USJ. Raspberry also registered eight total steals for JWU.
Owen Liss, Norwich (So, F - West Suffield, Conn.) - Liss was deadly from the floor in a 1-2 week for the Cadets, posting back-to-back 18-point, 13-rebound performance in road tilts at Dean (L 89-81) and Elms (W 77-65) before logging 12 points, nine boards and four assists against Emmanuel. Across those three games, Liss averaged 16.0 points and 11.7 rebounds while shooting on a 57.1% (20-35) overall and an unreal 77.8% (7-9) from three-point range.
Russell Rau, Regis (Mass.) (So., F - Fitchburg, Mass.) - Rau led Regis with 17.7 points on 46.3% shooting (19-41 FG, 7-18 3PT, 8-8 FT) in a 1-2 GNAC week. He led the Pride with 22 points and eight rebounds, shooting 9-for-17 from the field, as Regis defeated Rivier on the road Tuesday night. He collected 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists at Albertus Magnus Thursday before leading the Pride with 19 points against #1 nationally-ranked USJ. Rau moved into seventh in the GNAC in scoring average as well as fourth in rebounding average.
Delshawn Jackson Jr., St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., G - Hartford, Conn.) - Jackson Jr. paced the No. 1 nationally-ranked Blue Jays to a 3-0 week, averaging a team-high 14.7 points in just 19.0 minutes per game off the bench. He opened the week with 12 points against JWU last Tuesday before also dropping 12 points in only 14 minutes against Lasell on Thursday evening, downing the Lasers by a 98-39 final. The senior guard capped off his week in impressive fashion, dropping a season-high 20 points to lead USJ past Regis on the road on Saturday.
Griffin Foley, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (GR, G - Portland, Maine) - Foley netted 25 points on 9-of-13 (69.2%) shooting from the floor and a 6-of-7 effort from the FT line with six rebounds, six assists, and a pair of steals in a 91-81 win over Anna Maria on Tuesday. For the week, the graduate guard averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 57.1% (12-21) from the floor and 77.8% (7-9) from the charity stripe in a pair of GNAC victories.
John Paul Frazier, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Freshman, G - York, Maine) - Frazier averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 52.6% (10-19) from the floor and 52.9% (9-17) from three-point range in a pair of GNAC victories last week. The freshman guard netted 18 points with seven boards in a 91-81 triumph over Anna Maria on Tuesday and added 12 points with six rebounds in an 80-64 win over Rivier on Saturday.
