GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 5

(FOR THE WEEK OF DEC. 3-9)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jack Casale, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (So, G - Portland, Maine) In a 2-0 week, Casale averaged 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 60.7% (17-28) overall and 64.3% (9-14) from beyond the arc to help the Monks extend their winning streak to six. He was a stellar 11-of-13, including 6-of-6 from three, en route to scoring 28 points with six boards and four assists in a 104-78 victory over Maine Maritime on Tuesday. He added 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 78-74 win at Husson on Saturday.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Terrence Harvey Jr., Colby-Sawyer (Fr, G - Smyrna, Ga.) Harvey Jr. averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 assists in just 21.5 minutes per contest in a 2-0 week for the Chargers, while shooting 47.1% (8-17 FG) overall, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. The first-year player began the week with eight points and three assists in an 82-68 win over Norwich before registering 13 points and six assists to help Colby-Sawyer to a 108-101 win at UNE.

WEEK 5 HONOR ROLL
Tyreek Perkins, Albertus Magnus (So., G - New Haven, Conn.) - In a 2-1 week, Perkins averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 45.5% (15-33 FG) overall. In a loss at No. 24 New Jersey City, he posted a team-high 17 points to go with three rebounds and three steals. Perkins also recorded a 13-point, eight-rebound performance in a win over NYU before closing out the week with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win over Fisher. 

Patrick Coffey, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, G - Westford, Mass.) - Coffey led the Chargers with 24.5 points, 4.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting an impressive 67.7% (21-31 FG, 3-7 3PT) in a 2-0 week. He had a game-high 27 points (11-16 FG) along with six assists and three boards in an 82-68 win over Norwich before registering a game-best 22 points (10-15 FG) with five rebounds in a 108-101 road win at UNE. 

Isaiah Ruffen, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, G - Haverhill, Mass.) - Ruffen led the Saints to a 2-0 week averaging 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 11-of-22 overall. The senior opened the week with a monster 17-point, 16-rebound double-double effort in a victory over Newbury and followed it up with 13 points in a win over Wentworth. 

Brian Hogan-Gary, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., G - Staten Island, NY) - Averaged a double-double for the week with 22.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Had a career-high 32 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists at Gordon. Started the week with 26 points and 16 rounds plus five assist in the win over Fitchburg State.

Stefan Masciarelli, Lasell (Jr., G - Northbridge, Mass.) - Averaged 22.0 points on 51.0% (25-49 FG) shooting along with 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in a 1-2 week. He shot at least 50% in all three Lasers games, scoring 24 points (8-15 FG) in a win over Suffolk, 21 points (9-18 FG) in a loss to Wheaton, and 21 again (8-16 FG) in a road loss to #19 Amherst.

Christopher Bryant, Norwich (So., F - Crestview, Fla.) - After a two-point, six-rebound, three-assist effort against Colby-Sawyer, Bryant went off against Rivier for 22 points and 15 rebounds to go along with six assists and just one turnover on 8-of-10 shooting. 

Mike Sagay, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., F - Bloomfield, Conn.) - Sagay had 17 points, nine boards and five steals in a loss to Pine Manor, the Blue Jays' lone game of the week. 

Brendan Mulson, Suffolk (So., G - Albany, N.Y.) - Averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week, highlighted by a 30-point effort on 11-of-19 shooting in a blowout win over Lesley.
