GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 6
Lasell's Sheridan Blaha posted four goals, including both game-winners, in a 2-0 week for the Lasers.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Sheridan Blaha, Lasell (Jr., F - Waltham, Mass.) - Blaha scored four goals in a 2-0 week for the Lasers, with a pair of two-goal games and both game-winners. She scored both Lasell goals in Wednesday's 2-1 road victory over Anna Maria, with the game-winner coming in overtime. She also scored Lasell's first and third goals in Saturday's 5-0 shutout over Dean, including the game-winner on a penalty stroke.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Nora Newman, Elms (Senior, GK - Woburn, Mass.) - Newman made an astounding 39 saves despite an 0-2 week for the Blazers, allowing seven goals for a .848 save percentage. On the road at Union, she made 10 saves before stopping a ridiculous 29 of 32 shots to keep things cclose against GNAC powerhouse Saint Joseph's of Maine in a 3-0 setback. She posted a 3,50 goals-against average despite facing 46 shot attemtps. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Makenzie Dinger, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., M - Hingham, Mass.) - Dinger had a nine-point week to help power the Blue Jays to a 2-1 record this past week. Dinger netted four goals and added an assist to account for the nine points. She opened the week with a breakout performance, scoring three goals and adding an assist in an 11-1 rout of intrastate and GNAC rival Albertus Magnus on Monday. Dinger followed that up by adding another goal to her tally, which also served as the game-winning goal, on Wednesday in a 4-0 shutout versus Dean. |
HONOR ROLL
Allyson Shaw, Anna Maria (GR, F - Worcester, Mass.) - As part of a 1-1 week, Shaw scored two goals with an assist in Anna Maria's 5-1 win over Sweet Briar on Saturday. The senior currently leads the AMCATS this season in goals and points.
Julia Lanctot, Colby-Sawyer (GS, M - Sandown, N.H.) - The 2021 GNAC Woman of the Year had two goals and an assist for five points last week.
Lauren Wilkinson, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, GK - Lynn, Mass.) - Wilkinson made 17 saves on 20 shots in a 3-1 setback against GNAC power Saint Joseph's of Maine.
McKayla Weaver, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., F/M - Enfield, Conn.) - Weaver scored two goals in a pair of conference victories over the past week. She scored the game-winner against Simmons to take a 2-1 victory, before scoring one of five for the Wildcats on Saturday, defeating USJ, 5-0. Weaver had a .500 shot percerage while putting all four of her shots on goal
Lily Stark, Lasell (So., F - Saco. Maine) - Stark collected a goal and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. She assisted on Lasell's first goal in Wednesday's 2-1 road victory over Anna Maria before assisting on Lasell's second and third goals and scoring the fourth in Saturday's 5-0 shutout over Dean.
Courtney Tello, Lasell (Fr., G - Nashua, N.H.) - Tello recorded a 2-0 record with a 0.47 goals against average and a .909 save percentage for the Lasers, totaling 10 saves on the week on 11 shots. She made all 10 of her saves in Wednesday's 2-1 road victory over Anna Maria, and she did not need to make any saves to record the shutout in Saturday's 5-0 shutout over Dean.
Wendy Bowden, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., GK - Old Saybrook, Conn.) - Bowden was stellar between the pipes helping power the Blue Jays to a 2-1 week. Bowden made 23 saves across three games and posted a .793 saves percentage. She opened the week making a pair of saves in an 11-1 rout of intrastate and GNAC rival Albertus Magnus on Monday to secure her first collegiate victory in goal. She followed that up with another win and registered her first career shutout after making four saves in a 4-0 USJ win over Dean on Wednesday. Bowden then closed out the week with a career-high 17 saves on Saturday at Johnson & Wales in a 5-0 setback.
Emma Rutledge, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, F - Alfred, Maine) - Rutledge tallied two goals and two assists for six total points in three conference wins last week.
Haley Dover, Simmons (Senior, F - West Springfield, Mass.) - Dover helped guide the Sharks to a 1-1 week, which included the team's third shutout of the season – an 8-0 victory over Regis on Saturday. Against the Pride, Dover recorded her first multi-goal game of her collegiate career by scoring twice in the 8-0 victory.
Emilia Elko, Simmons (First Year, A/M - Richboro, Pa.) - Elko led the Sharks to a 1-1 week, which included the teams's third shutout of the season - an 8-0 win over Regis to end the week on Saturday. Against the Pride, Elko registered a natural hat-trick scoring three straight goals to open the second half. Elko joined teammates Sydney Gonyea and Maddie Beckwith as the third Shark to record a hat-trick this season.
