PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sean Roeger, Colby-Sawyer (Jr.)
Junior Sean Roeger had an impressive week for the Chargers over the span of six games. The junior finished the week with a near .500 batting average with 14 hits over 29 at bats. Sean's best day came in back to back games over WestConn and Mt. Aloysius where he finished 10-11 on the day, tallying five hits in each game tying a program record for most hits in a game twice. Roeger would notch his first home run of the season while adding seven runs batted in and nine runs scored on the 3-3 week.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brandon Cahill, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Sr.)
Senior Brandon Cahill continued his strong senior campaign for USJ, improving to 4–0 on the season with another dominant performance on the mound in a 4–3 victory over Rivier on Saturday (3/21). The senior right‑hander went the distance for the third straight time, scattering five hits and allowing three runs—all unearned—while striking out 10, including the 100th strikeout of his career, over seven innings. He finished the day with a 0.00 ERA and a 12.86 K/9, anchoring the Blue Jays’ staff in their GNAC opener.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Micah McMannus, Colby-Sawyer (Fr.)
Freshman Micah McMannus put on a strong pitching display over the course of his last two outings, with both games being 20 run differentials. Micah pitched a total of 10 innings with a total of 12 strikeouts in those two outings, while only allowing eight hits. He finished the week with an era of 0.90, and a k/9 of 10.80. In his first conference outing of his career he went 5.0 innings with five strikeouts and one earned run against Dean.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Eric Galarza, Albertus Magnus - Galarza went 8-for-19 with eight RBI's on the week as he drove in four runs in game two against Norwich.
Mark Whittington, Albertus Magnus - Whittington went 7-for-17 on .412% with three RBI's as he hit two homers and scored seven runs with an .824 slugging.
Micah McManus, Colby-Sawyer - McManus would be a highlight for the Chargers this week has he would post a 0.00 era over the span of 6.0 innings pitched across two appearances. He would go 5 innings against Wentworth where he would strikeout 4 with a 9.00 k/9 allowing just 5 hits. He would follow that performance with a closing roll as he would pick up the save in a 3-1 victory over Old Westbury with two punch outs.
Kyler Lorenz, Dean - Lorenz batted a .417 average in four games (3-1) with three RBI's.
Tyler McDonald, Lasell - McDonald went 10-for-16 with two RBI's, highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance in a win over Curry.
Christopher Piscione, Mitchell - Piscione played a key role in Mitchell’s offense during a six-game stretch, batting .350 (7-for-20) with seven RBI, two triples, and two stolen bases, while posting a .435 on-base percentage and .550 slugging percentage. He delivered his biggest performance in a 22–8 non-conference win over Clark University, going 3-for-5 with a triple, five RBI, two stolen bases, and a walk, helping power Mitchell’s explosive offensive output. He also added a triple and two RBI in a 12–2 GNAC win over New England College. In addition, Piscione recorded a multi-hit effort in a 1–0 win over Saint Joseph’s (ME), contributing to a key GNAC sweep.
Adam Vartanian, Mitchell - Vartanian delivered an outstanding and highly efficient week at the plate for the Mitchell baseball team, batting .600 (6-for-10) with three runs scored, one double, one triple, and two RBI, while posting a .545 on-base percentage and .900 slugging percentage across four games. He recorded two multi-hit performances, highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI in a 12–2 win over New England College. He followed with a 2-for-3 performance with a walk-off triple and an RBI in a 3–2 victory over Saint Joseph’s (ME) and added another hit in a 1–0 win to help complete the conference sweep.
Christopher Chagnon, New England College - Chagnon stymied the GNAC preseason favorite Mitchell, limiting the Mariners to just one run in a seven-inning complete game victory. Chagnon allowed just four hits and needed just 85 pitches to sit down one of the league's top lineups. In the win, he had a 1.29 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.
Carson Rath, Norwich - Rath continued his stellar start to the season, hurling a complete game against Albertus Magnus, tossing seven IP, allowing a run on six hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Nick Brindle, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Brindle hit .462 (6-for-13) with six RBI, two runs scored, and three extra-base hits over four games for the Monks last week. He tallied a double, triple, and home run while posting a .923 slugging percentage, highlighted by a 3-for-5, five-RBI performance against Albertus Magnus that included a homer and a triple. Brindle also added a stolen base and did not commit an error in 12 infield chances.
