Saint Joseph's of Maine Captures Top Seed in GNAC Baseball Tournament
Conference power Saint Joseph's of Maine swept Norwich Saturday to clinch the regular-season title. JWU will host Championship Weekend next Saturday-Sunday.

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second straight year, Saint Joseph's College of Maine has earned the GNAC Baseball Tournament top seed and regular-season title entering next week's conference tournament, which will be hosted by Johnson & Wales University next weekend at the the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex in Providence, R.I.
Saint Joseph's earned the top seed with a sweep of Norwich University in Saturday's regular-season finale to finish 12-2 in GNAC play, while second-seeded Suffolk University split with Albertus Magnus College on Saturday to finish 11-3 in conference action. Both Saint Joseph's and Suffolk avoid Tuesday's single-elimination round into the four-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament.
In Tuesday's do-or-die action, third-seeded Lasell College will host sixth-seeded Rivier University at Brandeis University (7:00 PM), while fourth-seeded Johnson & Wales hosts fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus College (6:00 PM).
Tuesday's winners will earn spots into the four-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament. On Thursday, May 5, the Rivier-Lasell winner will be at Suffolk taking on the Rams, while the Albertus-JWU winner will be at Saint Joseph's facing the Monks.
