SJC (M), JWU (W) Named Recipients Of 2024-25 GNAC Commissioner's Cups
WINTHROP, Mass. — The Johnson & Wales women and Saint Joseph's College of Maine men were named the winners of the 2024-25 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner's Cups on Friday Afternoon (June 6).
The Wildcats earned 36 of a possible 45 points (80%) in the women's competition, highlighted by claiming GNAC championships in Field Hockey, Outdoor Track & Field, and Softball. JWU finished runner-up in four other sports as well (Soccer, Volleyball, Indoor Track & Field, and Lacrosse). The Wildcats leave the GNAC and will head to the Conference of New England (CNE) this upcoming 2025-26 academic year as JWU finishes their tenure in the GNAC with their eight Women's Commissioner's Cup and fourth consecutive award.
Meanwhile, Saint Joseph's (Maine) earned its fourth GNAC Commissioner's Cup, earning 29 of a possible 40 points (72.5%). The Monks claimed championships in both Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field seasons as well as Men's Basketball in the Winter. SJC finished as the runner-up in Cross Country and Golf as well this past year.
The GNAC Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the member institution achieving the highest level of athletic success throughout the academic year. It is based upon a point system and standings are determined by percentages in order to reflect the number of GNAC sports that each member sponsors.
Schools receive five points for winning a GNAC Championship, four points for advancing to a conference title game, three points for competing in a GNAC Semifinal, two points for qualifying for a GNAC Tournament, or one point for sponsoring the sport.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 14 member institutions and over 4,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Founded in 1995, the GNAC annually sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunity and community involvement in an effort to enhance the student-athlete experience.
