NEW ORLEANS, La. - Emmanuel College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Andy Yosinoff received the 2012 Jewish Coaches Association Red Auerbach Award, an honor presented to college basketball’s Jewish Coach of the Year. Yosinoff received the prestigious award after leading the Emmanuel Women’s Basketball Team to the NCAA Division III National Quarterfinals last month. The Red Auerbach Award was presented to Yosinoff on March 31st in New Orleans, Louisiana at the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four Convention.
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College women’s basketball Head Coach Andy Yosinoff (University of Rhode Island, ’70) has been named the D3Hoops.com Northeast Region Coach of the Year while senior guard Meghan Kirwan (Melrose, Mass.) has been named to the All-Northeast First Team, it was announced this morning by D3Hoops.com. The honors mark the first time since the 2010 season that someone from the Saints’ program was recognized be D3Hoops.com when Iman Davis (’10) was named to the All-Northeast Second Team.
Junior forward Fiona O'Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.) poured in a game-high 24 points, including the 1,000th of her collegiate career, to lead the Saints. Emmanuel will now take on No. 1 Amherst College in the National Quarterfinals on Saturday.
Emmanuel College pulled off a 57-52 upset over Rhode Island College in 2nd Round action of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament played at the Murray Center on Saturday night. With the Regional Final victory, the Saints (24-6) have earned a spot in the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen." Emmanuel handed Rhode Island College its first home loss of the season and the Anchorwomen end their season at 25-4.

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior forward Fiona O’Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.) netted a game-high 24 points and senior guard Meghan Kirwan (Melrose, Mass.) added 20 points to propel the Emmanuel College women’s basketball team to a 68-57 victory over Saint Joseph’s College (ME) in the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Jean Yawkey Center Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Saints improve to 22-6 on the year to capture their sixth consecutive and 14th overall GNAC title while the loss drops the Monks to 20-8 on the season.
Senior Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday evening as the Rams lost in the Great Northeas Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals to Emmanuel College, 87-58.
Boston, MA -- The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team rolled to a 93-59 victory over the Mount Ida College Mustangs in the quarterfinals round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament on Tuesday evening.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Pine Manor senior Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) collected a game-high 17 rebounds, while also scoring 12 points, to surpass 500 rebounds in her career as Pine Manor College defeated Simmons College, 65-63, on Saturday afternoon at Brunelli Court in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Gators were also led by senior Paulette Wright, who poured in a game-high 19 points to help Pine Manor (8-15, 2-11 GNAC) earn its second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season. With the loss Simmons ends its 2011-12 season with a 4-20 overall record (1-12 GNAC).
The 2011-2012 GNAC Women's Basketball Playoff pairings are now available. The Emmanuel College Saints are seeded first after an undefeated conference record of 13-0 and 19-6 overall.
Emmanuel College senior Meghan Kirwan (Melrose, Mass.) has been named a 1st Team Capital One Academic All-District selection. Kirwan, a captain of the Saints Women’s Basketball Team, possesses a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, while majoring in Elementary Education at Emmanuel. She is one of just five women’s basketball players from New England to receive 1st Team Academic All-District honors.
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) and Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 17 points apiece as Saint Joseph College defeated Pine Manor, 85-64 Monday in a GNAC game at the O'Connell Center.
BOSTON, Mass. – Another double-double from Olivia Connors coupled with a double-digit point tallies from five additional Lions saw the Emerson Women’s Basketball Team take their second straight win Saturday afternoon as EC topped Albertus Magnus 85-75. The win places the Lions at 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC while Albertus drops to 8-5 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Pine Manor took a 34-33 lead into the half but Norwich University freshmen Aliah Curry (Windsor, MA) scored 19 of her career-high 36 points in the second half to lead the visiting Cadets to a 74-66 victory over Pine Manor during a Tuesday afternoon Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game at Brunelli Court in Chestnut Hill, MA.
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball teams are coming together in February to fundraise and spread awareness for breast cancer in the conference wide Play 4Kay. This will be the fifth year that the GNAC with its fourteen school membership participates in this great initiative. The GNAC’s Play 4Kay is run in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “Play 4Kay”.
This "Wall of Champions" will display photos of all conference champions since its inception in 1995.
