Player of the Year: Meghan Kirwan, Emmanuel College, Sr.,
Melrose, MA
Meghan Kirwan has had a spectacular senior season and has been
honored as the GNAC 2012 Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
Kirwan leads Emmanuel in FG%(ranked 2nd in GNAC) with 53.5% and
leads the Saints in assists and steals with 3.7 apg. Also she is
ranked second on Emmanuel in scoring vs. GNAC opponents (14.6 ppg),
3rd on team in rebounding (6.1 rpg), has started in 24 of 25 games
played and leads Emmanuel in minutes played (29.6 per game). The
co-captain has received other awards this season including being
named GNAC Player of the Week and was a 3-time GNAC Weekly Honor
roll selection. She has also been named to the Capital One 1st Team
Academic All-District.

Fiona O'Dwyer, Emmanuel College, Jr., Stamford, CT
Junior forward, Fiona O'Dwyer has been named GNAC Player of the
Week two times this season and three times to the Weekly Honor
Roll. She has been named to the EC Invitational All-Tournament
team. O'Dwyer recorded her 500th career rebound this season, where
she leads Emmanuel in rebounding (5th in GNAC) with 8.4 rpg. She
also ranked 12th in the GNAC in scoring (14.4 ppg). Additionally,
she ranked 2nd on Emmanuel in FG% (46.5%) vs. conference opponents
and 2nd on the team in minutes played (26.6 per game). O'Dwyer
started in all 25 games played and has recorded 5 double-doubles in
her junior year.

Amandra Purcell, Rivier College, Sr., Hudson, NH
Amandra Purcell has been a team leader for the young Raiders in the
2011-12 season. The senior from Hudson, New Hampshire averaged 21.2
points per game within GNAC competition while leading Rivier to an
impressive 11-1 conference record. She knocked down a total of 97
three point attempts along with recording her 1,000th point in a
Raider uniform.

Deanna Purcell, Rivier College, Fr., Hudson, NH
Deanna Purcell has been one of the reasons why Rivier finished
with an 11-2 GNAC record. As a freshman, she recorded 531 points
during the regular season, and broke the All-Time GNAC Record post
season with 539. She has been awarded multiple GNAC Player of the
Week honors along with mulitple Rookie of the Week honors. |

Ashley Geel, St. Joseph's College of Maine, Sr., St. George,
ME
Senior Ashley Geel leads the Monks in scoring (11.6 PPG),
rebounding (7.3 RPG) and blocked shots (41). Geel surpassed the
1,000-point plateau this season – the 20th player in program
history to accomplish the feat. She paced the Monks in scoring in
nine different games and rebounding in 14 contests. Anchoring the
Monks at center, she ranks as the team’s all-time leader in
blocked shots with 197 career rejections.

Coach of the
Year: Paul Williams, Rivier College
Rivier head coach, Paul Williams, made his first season at the
reins a memorable one. After serving as the assistant coach for
four seasons, Williams took over this year and led the the Raiders
to a 18-9 overall record, an11-2 conference record, and a
semi-final tournament finish. Also, two of his players earned first
team all-conference honors, and one was selected as rookie of the
year.
