Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Report – Week 2
Offensive Player of the Week
Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine), Senior, Middle
Blocker, Saint Joseph’s College (ME)
Hawkes continued her impressive senior season by
averaging 3.27 kills and 3.64 digs with a .341 attack percentage in
a 2-1 week for the Monks. She nearly led St. Joe's to the program's
first win over UNE in 24 years with 17 kills and 16 digs in a
difficult 3-2 loss and blasted 14 kills with 19 digs in a shutout
victory over Framingham State on Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jamie Morgan (Glen Allen, Penn.), Junior,
Defensive Specialist, Emerson College
Morgan led the Lions defensively over the week with 60
digs in three matches to average 6.0 digs per set. Against Babson,
the junior collected a match-high 28 digs over the three sets of
work. In GNAC play vs. Mount Ida, Morgan paced the Emerson
defensive front with 14 digs in a 3-0 win.
Rookie of the Week
Emily O’Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.),
Freshman, Setter, Rivier University
O'Reilly helped Rivier to a perfect 3-0 week as the San
Francisco, CA native was able to record 84 assists over the three
matches, including 33 in a win GNAC at Albertus Magnus. The setter
averaged 9.33 assists per set to go along with six service aces and
10 digs on the week.
