The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team earned a Silver Medal Team Ethics Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the 2009 season.
Both Suffolk University Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams earned recognition by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA)as each team received the NSCAA Academic/Adidas College Team Award for 2008-09. Suffolk is one of only 97 institutions (NCAA Divisions I, II & III) to have both their men’s and women’s teams named to both lists and is one of two teams from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to do so.
The 5th-seeded Sharks of Simmons College pulled off a 2-1 double-overtime upset victory over the 2nd-seeded Saints of Emmanuel College to snag the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Soccer Championship. Rookie forward Lian Atturio (Hanover, Mass.) netted both goals for Simmons, including the game-winner, which came in the 117th minute.
The #5 seeded Simmons College Sharks will take on #2 seeded Emmanuel College Saints tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 7th at 12:30pm at the Saints’ Roberto Clemente Field .
#2 Seed Emmanuel College and #5 Seed Simmons College will compete in the 2009 GNAC Women's Soccer Championship. The match will be played on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 12:30 pm at the Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass. The winner of the GNAC Championship will be awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Will Pike (Men’s Soccer, St. Joseph’s (ME)) and Cait Witham (Women’s Soccer, St. Joseph’s (CT)) were named Goalkeepers of the Week.
Katherine Chambers (Women’s Soccer, St. Joseph’s Maine), Laura Furfaro (Women’s Cross Country, JWU), Kasey Higgins (Women’s Volleyball, JWU), Matt Munden (Men’s Golf, UMass Dartmouth), Sabrina Salmela (Women’s Tennis, Simmons), Mathew Scully (Men’s Cross Country, Lasell), and Mike Skelton (Men’s Soccer, Lasell) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.
One point separated the top two teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Women’s Soccer Coaches Poll with the Monks of Saint Joseph’s being tabbed as the favorite to win the GNAC in a vote by the conference coaches.
