EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Johnson & Wales University Athletic Department and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held their annual Walk For Hunger, which raises money for the Feinstein Foundation.
Founded in 1991 by Alan Shawn Feinstein, the Feinstein Foundation is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger, the importance of community service in education and the values of caring, compassion and brotherhood.
Nearly 200 student-athletes walked a course through East Providence, beginning at Pierce Stadium and raised nearly $1,000 for the worthy cause. There was also a canned food drive with the food donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
In addition to the Walk For Hunger, the SAAC organized the first annual Dodge Ball tournament, won by the combined women’s basketball, women’s soccer and women’s tennis teams.
