Norwich names Dunning new Sports Information Director
Norwich University is pleased to announce that Derek Dunning has been elevated to the position of sports information director effective June 18.
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University is pleased to announce that Derek Dunning has been elevated to the position of sports information director effective June 18.
Dunning replaces Mark Adkins, who has departed to take over as sports information director at Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana.
Dunning has served Norwich as the assistant sports information director for the last two years in which he was the primary contact for the men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and men’s tennis teams.
“Derek brings a passion for Norwich athletics, as well as an unmatched love of sports, to his new role,” said Jay Ericson, director of integrated marketing and communications. “His enthusiasm for our teams and student athletes is contagious, and I am looking forward to working alongside him in his new capacity.”
Norwich University sponsors 20 NCAA Division III varsity athletic programs including national championship hockey and rugby programs. Dunning will facilitate communication between the teams and the sports reporting media as well as oversee the day to day operations of the sports information office.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to become the new sports information director at Norwich,” Dunning said. “Over the last two years I’ve engrossed myself in becoming part of the Norwich family, and I look forward to continuing to market the Norwich brand through our athletic teams.”
Dunning will work with associate sports information director Charlie Crosby, NU ‘63. The search to fill the vacant position will begin immediately.
