Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Report – Week 3

Player of the Week
Brittany Casey (Point-Claire, Quebec) Senior, Forward, Norwich University
After a slow start to the 2012 campaign, Casey exploded offensively scoring four goals and adding three assists to help lead the Cadets to a 2-0-1 week. She notched her 50th career goal in a win over Anna Maria on Saturday and also helped jump start the NU offense to come back and tie Emmanuel on Wednesday in second half after trailing 2-0. She now has 52 goals and 24 assists for 128 points in her career.

Rookie of the Week
Molly Fitzgerald (Haverhill, Mass.), Freshman, Forward, Lasell College
Fitzgerald scored a pair of goals in a 2-0 week for Lasell. The freshmen tallied the lone goal in the Lasers 1-0 defeat of Mount Ida, and then added a second goal in their victory over Suffolk to help the Lasers stay perfect in GNAC action.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Melissa Dodge (Watertown, Conn.), Freshman, Goalkeeper, University of Saint Joseph (CT)
Dodge had another flawless week making 18 saves in 200 minutes as Saint Joseph went 1-0-1. She made 11 saves in USJ's 3-0 victory, their first-ever win over St. Joe's of Maine and followed that with seven stops in a scoreless overtime tie against Albertus. Dodge has not allowed a goal in her past 540 minutes in net.
