Player of the Week
Aidan Boyce (South Portland, Maine), Junior,
University of Southern Maine
Boyce led an outstanding team performance with an
even-par two-round total of 144 (72-72) as the University of
Southern Maine Huskies golf team won the Maine Intercollegiate golf
Championship this weekend at the par-72, 6545 yard Val Halla Golf
Course in Cumberland, Maine. Boyce, who tied for first-round honors
with teammate senior Josh Hogan (Falmouth, Maine), captured the
individual title by combing a front nine 38 with a two-under 34 on
the back nine. Boyce had three birdies in his second round
performance and had an eagle on the par five, 540 yard fourth hole.
Boyce’s outstanding performance was one of many as all five
of Southern Maine’s golfers did not have a score higher than
80. The Huskies dominant team performance helped them coast to
their first Maine State Intercollegiate Championship since 2003
finishing at 595, outdistancing second place University of New
England by 21 shots.
Rookie of the Week
Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, Mass.), Freshman,
Rhode Island College
Camerlengo tied for third by shooting a 78 among a
field of 20 golfers as the Rhode Island College men's golf team won
the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Invitational with a team
score of 306.
Weekly Honor Roll
Luke Ferrari (Milton, Mass.), Sophomore, Suffolk
University
