BOSTON, Mass. – Wednesday’s match of St. Joseph’s of Maine and the Emerson Women’s Soccer team proved to be a tough conference match-up for the two as both put up double digits in shots, but were just unable to pocket one as the game ended in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods. The Lions are now 2-3-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in GNAC play.

The first half showcased a stingy defense on both sides of the ball as both sides were limited in shots with the Monks only getting one shot off while the Lions put up three. All three were on goal for EC though Jacqueline Lorenzo was on point as she stopped all three keeping the hungry Lions at bay sending it to the second tied 0-0.

The second half saw St. Joseph’s turn it up a few notches as they sent out the firing squad to unleash 11 shots on the Lions, but goalkeeper Allie Altman held her ground leaving the Monks empty-handed yet again sending the game into a heated OT period.

Both teams started to look weary as the game headed into the 100th minute with the Monks still bringing the heat thought he Lions matched both their shots and both came up fruitless to send it to the second OT.

The result remained the same as the Lions hung tough giving everything they had in the last ten minutes with four shots posted, though they couldn’t find a sweet nylon ending as the clock expired with the match still knotted at zeroes.
