Meghan Black Joins 1,000 Point Club
Senior Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday evening as the Rams lost in the Great Northeas Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals to Emmanuel College, 87-58.

Black becomes the 10th player in Suffolk University Women's Basketball history to reach this career milestone, and 44th player in GNAC history to record the career point plateau.
Black needed 13 points entering Thursday's playoff game and achieved the mark with thirty-one seconds remaining on the clock as put home a layup and finished the evening with 14 points.
During the 2011-12 season, Black started in all 27 games for the Rams averaging 10 points per game and was third on the team with 271 total points scored.
In four seasons with the Rams, Black has appeared in 109 game games averaging 9.2 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game. She has twice been recognized by the GNAC as an All-Conference selection during her sophomore and junior seasons.
During her junior campaign of 2010-11, Black averaged 10.3 points per game over 28 contests, while collecting 4.9 rebounds per game. Her 78.2 shooting percentage from the free-throw line was ranked seventh among GNAC shooters last season, while ranking 11th with 1.2 blocked shots per game. Black also recorded double digits in scoring in 16 of the Rams' 28 games on the year, while recording a double-double on two occasions. Black was also named a GNAC All-Tournament selection as she helped lead the Rams to the conference finals before they fell in the league championship game to Emmanuel College, 83-67. During their three game playoff run, Black averaged 12.7 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. Black recorded a double-double in the GNAC quarterfinals matchup, a 68-55 win over Mount Ida College, with 15 points and had 10 rebounds. Black also led all scorers with 15 points in their semi-finals matchup, a 66-62 victory over St. Joseph's College (ME).
As a sophomore in 2009-10 she was again a third team All-Conference selection by the GNAC. She finished tha season leading the Rams in points per game with a 10.2 ppg average and led the Rams with 265 points scored on the season, and also ranked eighth in the GNAC with 2.2 steals per game.
It's the second milestone in a week for Black who also collected her 500th career rebound this past Thurday, February 16 against UMass-Boston. Black became the sixth Suffolk player over the last decade to reach this mark, before she was later joined by teammate Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) who did it later in the week.

Kathleen Norton is Suffolk's all-time leading scorer with a total of 1,516 points. She was inducted into the Suffolk University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009 and was placed into the GNAC's inaugural Hall of Fame later that year.
