Air Climb as a member of the Auburn Fire Department Local 797 in
Boston on February 4th.
The Auburn Fire Department Local 797 has a team of fire fighters competing in this year's Climb for Air event in Boston, which consists of climbing up One Boston Center – 42 floors - in full firefighting gear with SCBA breathing apparatus.
Fight for Air Climbs are unique fundraising events for the American Lung Association. They usually happen in prominent skyscrapers, stadiums or arenas and involve climbing multiple steps. Sometimes called a "vertical road race", teams and individual participants can use the event as a fitness target, as a race, with you challenging yourself or you racing against other people, or as a great way to be active and meet new friends. American Lung Association Climbs are also a wonderful way to support someone who has lung disease or as a memorial to someone who has passed away.
Families, individuals and teams join together in a climb to raise awareness for the 35 million Americans who suffer from asthma. Participants work together to fundraise. Each year, too many lives are lost to lung disease and this is a chance to climb, raise money and make an impact in their honor. Those joining the Fight for Air Climb are making the commitment to fight lung disease so everyone can breathe easier.
The Auburn Fire Department Local 797 placed sixth in the 2011 event, a respectable result in the team's first year of competition. "This year we are looking to improve with a better finish, but more importantly we are looking to raise as much money as possible," adds Harris.

Coach Harris: "Thank you for joining this important fight for children with asthma, teens who are pressured to start smoking, people with lung cancer and emphysema, and everyone who wants to breathe healthy air in our communities."
