JWU Women's Volleyball Headed To NYU For NCAA Championship

The JWU women's volleyball team will be heading to New York
University for the 2010 NCAA Division IIII Championship. The
Wildcats, the No. 7 seed in the region, are 24-12 on the season and
earned the automatic-bid after capturing the Great Northeast
Athletic Conference Championship. It is the fifth trip to the
NCAA's for the program and the first since the 2002
season.
The squad is led by senior Catherine
Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico), the 2010 GNAC Player of the
Year. She was also named the MVP of the GNAC
Championship. For the season she averaged 2.9 kills, 3.4 set
assists and 2.4 digs per set for the Wildcats. Fellow senior
Nikki
Balchunas (Brockton, Mass.), another all-GNAC selection, is
averaging 1.9 kills and 2.45 digs per contest. Senior Emma
Anderson (Meriden, Conn.) rounds out the all-conference
selections for JWU, averaging 1.64 kills, 0.9 set assists and 0.7
digs per set.
The Wildcats will face off against second seeded Stevens
Institute of Technology on Friday, November 12th at 3L00
p.m. The Ducks posted a 32-5 record overall and received an
at-large bid to the NCAA's after finishing in fourth place in the
Empire Eight.
