First Team Singles All-ConferenceTaylor Dey

 

Taylor Dey, Emmanuel, So., Woodbridge, CT

Emmanuel’s Taylor Dey led the Saints at No.1 singles for the entire 2010 season and has been named to the first team all-conference. Dey went 7-2 overall in singles matches and 4-1 in GNAC singles matches. Dey was named twice to the GNAC weekly honor roll this season.

 

Savannah Mosser, Emerson, Fr., Malibu, CA

The Lions’ spectacular rookie freshman, Savannah Mosser, has been honored as the 2010 Player of the Year and also named to the first-team all conference. The California native, Mosser , did not drop one set the whole season and only one set in non-conference play against the a player on the National Champion Williams College team.

Lacey Russell, Emerson, Fr., Roswell, GA

Another Emerson rookie freshman, Lacey Russell, has been honored as the 2010 Rookie of the Year and also named to the first-team all conference. Russell was a two-time GNAC Player of the Week and also named rookie of the week for a third week. The Roswell, GA native managed to only drop one set in conference play and almost went undefeated in non-conference play. The only loss she suffered was to #1 singles player for National Champion Williams College.

Alicia Pelegrin, Emerson, Fr., San Antonio, TX

The Lions’ earn another spot on the all-conference team with rookie freshman, Alicia Pelegrin. A native of Texas, Pelegrin went 4-0 in conference play and 6-0 overall, including wins over Suffolk, Johnson & Wales and Emmanuel.

 

Margaret Teague, Simmons, Fr., Manchester, NH

Simmons’ rookie freshman, Margaret Teague has been named to the first-team all-conference. Teague led Simmons to a GNAC Championship as No. 1 singles player and went 4-1 in conference singles and 4-0 in doubles, being honored as GNAC player of the week at the conclusion of the third week. The only loss she suffered was to Rookie of the Year, Lacey Russell in a 3rd set super tie breaker. She also managed to defeat top single players at Suffolk, Johnson & Wales and Mount Ida.

Katy Hallinan, Simmons, Sr., Maynard, MA

Simmons’ senior, Katy Hallinan, has been named to the first team all-conference after going undefeated in conference singles (6-0) and 4-1 in doubles. Hallinan only lost four games in six matches this season. Also Hallinan earned GNAC player of the week honors for the final week of the regular season.

 

First Team Doubles All-Conference

Laura Miley, Emerson, Sr., Cranston, RI

Emerson’s senior, Laura Miley teamed up with Russell mid-way through the season and managed to go an undefeated 7-0 and 4-0 in the GNAC for No. 1 doubles.  

Lacey Russell, Emerson, Fr., Roswell, GA

The 2010 Rookie of the Year, Lacey Russell, has been honored to first team all-conference for doubles as well. Russell was a two-time GNAC Player of the Week and also named rookie of the week for a third week. Russell was first teamed up with Mosser for doubles then was paired with Miley to finish out the season and remained an undefeated 11-0 throughout.

 

Coach of the Year- Tom Walsh, St. Joseph College CT

The St. Joseph College of Connecticut coach, Tom Walsh, has been named as the 2010 GNAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year. Walsh has been honored with this award for the second time in his nine seasons as a head coach.
