GNAC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honors: Sept. 20th

Gabrielle Balestrier (Suffolk), Taylor Miranda (Suffolk), and Alecia Wright (Norwich) have earned GNAC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gabrielle Balestrier, Suffolk, Fr., Mohnton, PA

Suffolk’s Gabrielle Balestrier netted her first career hat trick in a 6-2 Suffolk win over Emmanuel College on Saturday. The rookie also added an assist on the day, totaling seven points for the game alone. Balestrier scored a goal in the Rams’ 5-2 victory over 2009 GNAC Champion Simmons College.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Taylor Miranda, Suffolk, Fr., Smithtown, NY

Suffolk’s Taylor Miranda scored four goals on the week and added an assist as the Rams picked up GNAC wins over Simmons (5-2) and Emmanuel (6-2). Both teams were the top two teams in 2009. Miranda led the Rams with two goals in the victory over the Sharks and had an additional two goals and an assist in the win over the Saints as well.

GOALIE OF THE WEEK

Alecia Wright, Norwich, Sr., Piffard, NY

Norwich’s Alecia Wright led the Cadets to a 2-0-0 record this past week. The senior posted 15 saves in recording two shutouts against St. Joseph (Conn.) and Emerson. Against the Blue Jays, Wright had nine stops, while she turned away another nine shots in the Emerson game to keep the Lions off the board.
