WEST HARTFORD, Conn.– The Saint Joseph College women’s soccer team was rewarded for an outstanding season today by being awarded a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament.

Saint Joseph is seeded fourth in the eight-team ECAC field and will host No. 5 Mass. College of Liberal Arts Wed., Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. The semifinals and final are scheduled for Nov. 13-14 and will be held at the sites of the highest remaining seeds.

The Blue Jays are 14-4-1 and reached a semifinal of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament before losing at Lasell, 1-0, Wednesday. MCLA (10-2-6) was the regular-season champion in the Mass. State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and was upset by No. 4 Bridgewater State on penalty kicks in a semifinal of its league tournament.

“We’re happy to be selected,” said Saint Joseph College coach Chris LeGates, who was chosen as the GNAC Coach of the Year this season, marking the fourth time he won the award. “It’s tribute to the hard work the players have put in all year long. And we’re thrilled that we have a home game. It’s an amazing accomplishment to be one of the top four seeds and we hope that we can show well.”
