GNAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors: October 18th, 2010

Matthew Bruninghaus (Lasell), Danny Lloyd (Suffolk) and Carlos Rojas (Mount Ida) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors.

Suffolk’s Danny Lloyd finished a stellar week of play scoring six goals and three assists in two games. Lloyd led the Rams rally on Monday scoring a hat track in the second half to pull the Rams ahead in a critical five goal rally to defeat GNAC rival Emerson. The junior forward continued his streak on Saturday netting three more in a 9-2 win over Rivier.

Mount Ida’s Carlos Rojas notched two goals and an assist in the Mustangs first victory of the 2010 season. The freshman midfielder lead Mount Ida over the 2009 GNAC defending champion St. Joseph’s (ME) winning 4-3 in overtime.

Lasell’s Matthew Bruninghaus had a phenomenal week for the Lasers in conference and non-conference play. The junior goalie made six saves in a shutout of Johnson & Wales on Monday then took on Centennial Conference powerhouse Haverford College, racking up 14 saves, and against Albertus Magnus made 11 saves in a 2OT tie. He finished the week with 31 saves, averaging 10 per game with a 1.24 GAA and one shutout. Bruninghaus has earned GNAC goalie of the week for the second time this season.
