GNAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors: Sept. 13th

Marcus Lopez (Lasell), Donato Piroscafo (Albertus Magnus), and Steve Zapatas (Albertus Magnus) have all earned GNAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Steve Zapatas, Albertus Magnus, So., Camden, CT

Albertus’ Steve Zapatas had three assists in a 3-0 week for the Falcons. All three assists heavily impacted the outcome of the game especially against Nichols College, which was the game winner. The sophomore also assisted both goals in a 2-1 win over Norwich and also added a goal against Wheelock earlier in the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Marcus Lopez, Lasell, Fr., Barrigada, Guam

Lasell’s Marcus Lopez scored the Lasers sole goal against Rhode Island College, putting Lasell ahead 1-0 in the 12^th minute. The rookie then assisted the game- winning goal against GNAC rival Mount Ida, sending a perfect leading pass down the middle of the field to set up the goal.

GOALIE OF THE WEEK

Donato Piroscafo, Albertus Magnus, Fr., Naugatuck, CT

Albertus’ Donato Piroscafo had a very strong rookie week for the Falcons . In a 3-0 week he recorded 2 shutouts including a 1-0 victory over Nichols College where Albertus played with 10 men for 51 minutes. Piroscafo made two incredible saves against Norwich to preserve the 2-1 win and also shut out Wheelock in this week’s showing.
